Ashington Walking Football Club started life in September 2018 as a group of like minded older fellas coming together to play the beautiful game. Early in 2019 we were approached by Ashington Town Football Club who asked us to become a part of their set up to which we quickly agreed.
Aimed predominately at those aged 45 and above who love the game, it is a fantastic way to get fit and meet new people. However those under the age of 45 who are keen to play for whatever reason are also welcome. The physical and mental benefits of Walking Football are numerous.
Walking Football is perfect:
If you enjoy a challenge.
If you want to be more active and improve fitness.
If you hung your boots up years ago but miss playing.
If you have suffered injury and have been told by your doctor or physio to start becoming active again.
If you want to get your old teammates back together.
If you are looking to lose some weight.
If you enjoy socializing and meeting fellow football lovers.
If you want to become involved in helping the group grow on and off the pitch
Prove yourself as a Maldini, Cantona or Pirlo.
Weekly sessions are hourly outside on a third of a 3G football pitch. Time 6-7pm on Monday evenings at the Josephine Butler Campus, Academy Road, Ashington, NE63 9FZ. There is already a canny bunch of lads taking part and who are enjoying it.
We have the opportunity to play friendlies with other local groups for those who would like to participate in this aspect of the group.
